L.B. Foster Relocating Water System

Tubular Products Facility new Magnolia, Texas Plant Utilizes Advanced Threading Technology

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 19, 2011 -- L.B. Foster Company (NASDAQ: FSTR) of Pittsburgh, PA, is relocating its Threaded Products unit from Houston to a new manufacturing facility in Magnolia, Texas. This innovative plant will utilize advanced technology threading and conveyance equipment to increase production capacity and improve delivery scheduling. The Magnolia facility expands L.B. Foster's ability to meet agricultural, municipal and industrial water well needs with quality water system tubular products and services. The new plant will also extend operating hours to better service existing and new regional markets.

The facility was designed from the ground up to incorporate robotic equipment in a single flow manufacturing line that fully expedites the movement of water system pipe through advanced threading processes. The use of new Okuma robotic threading equipment will assure the production of threaded pipe column that meets the most exacting client specifications. "Our new robotics uses advanced technology to assure exacting specs are met to provide perfect matchup," said Tim Chiasson, General Manager, Plant Operations, L.B. Foster Tubular Products.

The new threaded products plant is strategically located adjacent to L.B. Foster's joint venture operation, LB Pipe & Coupling Products, LLC. The site also includes additional acreage for the storage and staging of pre-purchased inventory to accommodate Just-in-Time delivery to jobsites nationwide. The facility replaces L.B. Foster's Langfield Road site in Houston which began operations in 1963. The new plant is located north of Houston at 21270 FM 1488 in Magnolia, Texas. It is managed by L.B. Foster Threaded Products within the L.B. Foster Tubular Products Group.  

 

L.B. Foster Forms Joint Venture with Lally Pipe & Tube

New Firm to Manufacture Precision Pipe Couplings

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 5, 2009 - L.B. Foster Company (Nasdaq: FSTR) of Pittsburgh, PA, has announced a newly formed joint venture between three partners, Kentucky-based Lally Pipe & Tube, L.B. Foster and industry veteran, Jim Legg. Together the three partners have formed LB Pipe & Coupling Products, LLC, to manufacture couplings and accessories for the water well, oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and American Petroleum Institute (API) markets. LB Pipe & Coupling Products will occupy a manufacturing facility currently under construction in Magnolia, TX. The Texas facility is scheduled to be operational in January 2010.

The new operation will install the latest technology available to manufacture high quality precision couplings. "L.B. Foster is pleased to team with Lally in building this exciting joint venture. This will be the beginning of developing new opportunities in the future," noted Merry Brumbaugh, Vice President Tubular Products, L.B. Foster Company.

 

L.B. Foster Meets Deep Well Requirements with Flanged Pump Column and Accessories  

Houston, TX - November 12, 2008 -- L.B. Foster Threaded Products has provided Modern Pump & Equipment of Millerstown, PA, with a customizes pipe requirement and accessories for a deepwell vertical turbine pump for a coal mine de-watering application with a 750' setting. L.B. Foster fabricated flanged columns using 8”, sch. 40, A53B, ERW plain end pipe pulled from standard inventory at their Houston facility. Specialty flanges were welded and machined to each end of the pipe. 3/16” rubber lining was then applied to the inner diameter of the pipe column and 16 mils of protective coal tar epoxy was coated onto the outer diameter. L.B. Foster Threaded Products also supplied various accessories including tube and shaft assemblies.
